When Castro dies, it will depend upon the political situation afterwards. His brother, Raoul, is the heir-aparrent to his position. He's not much younger, and probably in worse health so he might not even outlive Fidel.

If the political situation stabilized with a more pro-US regeime, it's likely that the "feet dry" policy on Cuban refugees would be revoked and they'd be treated like any other illegal alien.

BTW, "immigrant" is someone who has moved to another country, so nobody anywhere "immigrants". It's a noun, not a verb. When you leave the country of your birth, you "emigrate" and when you arrive in your chosen country, you "immigrate".

Nothing will change if Fidel dies ... it is up to the United States to normalize relations with Cuba, not the other way around ... a bit of diplomacy wouldn't go astray ... Cuba would be a good ally to the United States, trade would resume on a normal basis, and we could all smoke Cuban cigars ... :)

Where have you been? There are thousands of Cubans living in Florida (and other parts of the US), and have been for years. There's even a section in southern Florida known by the name of Little Cuba. I'm sure there's another dictator waiting to take Fidel's place.

They already do. I am sure Castro has handpicked a replacement. The question is can the replacement hold on to the power.

I think he has a son or nephew that will take over if he dies.

Fidel will never die. He'll live untill he's 200 years old and be a dick everyone of those years.

It might be the best thing that ever happened to them.

However, when you remove the lid from a pressure cooker, things do tend to blow up (e.g. Iraq.)
