Pancha, I am not talking about the 4% here. I am talking about multiplying that by family not yet here, and by the HUGE increase from the Senate Bill proposed guest worker program. I think the illegals except those we are really willing to root out (the awful ones) are going to be here legalization or not, so the impact is already here. My focus is on the future immigration level. This is not just a 'lets make it a little easier'. This is a 'let's flood the market so we can pay peanuts, like China does' and there is no hope that won't impact us, particularly when the baby boomers retire and need the social services they have been paying into all of their lives. Read this. I MEAN it: http://www.heritage.org/Research/Immigration/wm1109.cfm

I agree with the fact that its not the biggest problem we have going on right now, but it is an issue that needs to be dealt with. I'm all for legal immigration, were all immigrants after all, but I don't believe that illegal immigrants should be able to come here, break the law and get to use our resources, its just not right. If anything we should change the way the system is being run like is being suggested, while not sending a message to Mexico, or Canada for that matter, that its okay to sneak over because if you wait long enough you'll be able to stay. I'm sorry but that's just messed up.

Who's paranoid? Americans are just sick of the crime that illegals bring, and the theft of services like education and healthcare by the illegals. Americans are sick of the poverty in which the illegals live. They don't spend their stolen wages in the U.S., so why do we want them? They don't learn English and they don't assimilate into this country, they are truly UnAmerican.
If you are here illegally, get out. Simple as that. You are an unneeded and unwanted burden and you are a criminal. That's not "mean", that's just a fact. We don't care if you are Hispanic or European or Asian, Illegal means Illegal. Period.
Why does an American need to live in a certain place to care about America? You truly are off the mark here. It's not an "immigration" issue. It's illegal entry by criminals. You preach this bs that these people are "immigrants". Sorry, but immigrants come here legally. Illegal aliens, remember that term. That is the correct term. Go ahead and look it up in ICE directives and government documents.
Are you being a bit too supportive of criminals, maybe?

The trouble is not in the number, although 4% now will as you know multiply rapidly ... but the real problem lies in we don't know WHO is coming in here ... there is no screening, not even medical screening ... every legal immigrant has to go through both fingerprinting, photographing and having a medical checkup ... at the moment any illegal with TB and AIDS can come into the country and work with food and in hospitals ... maybe you don't care about the health issue, the issue that any terrorist can walk over the border, the fact that known criminals are merrily walking across the border, but I keep saying it ... why can't these people apply legally like everybody else???????????

You try hard but your living in la la land. Nothing will or has happened. Everything is and will be fine.
The problem is ---you do not face them!!
If you would see ALL issues and not deny and be reasonable maybe you could help all and not some. Maybe not to the extent you will like but what truly could be done for the benefit of all.
It doesn't mean you have no apathy-you show that you do. But again it is your refusal to see the whole picture. I am curios if your young-maybe not-but your perspective is. Maybe because you are letting personal feelings toward family-friends-co workers get in way of certain realities.
Even Jesus faced realities.
Leave the land of Oz -and look and accept issues and work from there.

According to some polls it is the biggest domestic issue in America. It may be 4% nation wide but on a state level the percentage is much much higher. Here in Arizona over 400,000 illegals enter a year. It is out of control. I think the reaction of America is on par with the crisis, as a matter of fact it is a bit under what it should be. As far as people who aren't recognizing the severity of this crime spree, sentimentality can easily cloud reality.

Your number is incorrect. The Heritage estimate that 103 million immigrants would gain legal status under S.2611 explicitly included: legal immigrants who would enter the country under current law; illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. who would receive amnesty; and the increase in new legal immigration that likely would result from the bill.
Thats 33% of the current population.

Excuse me, I grew up in Southern California, and have been in Maryland for a number of years. They are here also. Think about this little discussed item, unless things have changed drastically, children in Mexico are not give routine shots, some diseases that have not been seen in the US for years are seen in Mexico, do you want them here? Our hospital emergency rooms are flooded with illegals, our schools, etc. we support them. I don't mind anyone coming through legally, as many have. Stop being so liberal, we will all pick up the tab for this one. I am not paranoid, simply realistic.

Until the real problem is addressed ie Americans living on Native Indian's land, Mexicans have just as much right to be there.
