I've never heard of a Protestant minister telling anyone they are forbidden to read any book. They may preach against reading books/magazines or viewing TV shows/movies that may lead (tempt) people to sin or show sinful scenes.
In fact, it's the other way around. The Catholic church routinely tries to tell Catholics they cannot read certain books or view certain movies. The most recent example is The Da Vinci Code.

None I can read any book I want in fact the pastor asked us last week how many read The Da Vinci code. I think the more you read the more you know. I think most Chrisitans are not interested in the Catechism of the Catholic Church because they are not Catholic. In Christan Chat 3's forum we are currently discussing extrabiblical books like the book of Sirach.

I've been to a lot of different protestant churches of different denominations and I've never heard any Catholic bashing or any banning of books. But then, I tend to avoid the hateful versions of Protestant Christianity.
Just to get my rant on... (answer to question is done now, I'm just throwing in two cents now) there appear to be quite a few hateful protestant christians on Yahoo Answers. I know you guys are all fired up about what you believe, and that's cool, but do you have to be such jerks to people who believe differently from you? That's not what Jesus taught.

There is no rule not allowing this. All a protestant has to do is read a Catholic slanted book and realize why they protested in the first place

I went to a protestant church and I wasn't forbidden to read ANY book. My pastors aren't stupid, they wouldn't have made up a silly rule like that. And even if they did, do you really think we'd take it seriously enough to follow it? They're just books, after all.

we would desire to continually be grateful to God for protecting His word. He stored it risk-free interior the path of the Catholics. even however, we would desire to continually love every person, so i do no longer likely see the factor of the question. Who cares what denomination or branch you're. in case you learn the Bible and do what it says, you're a new child of God. Your questions are pointless, and look based from the two a bias, hate, or you basically like arguments. If a kingdom fights with one yet another, then it particularly is split. Why combat between any fellow brethren of God? John- confident, many protestants are insulting to the Catholic church, that's the incorrect concern to do for useful. Does the Catholic church want to be thanked? i might discover that slightly conceited. The Catholic church did its duty to God by ability of protecting the Bible. So all thank you is going to God for appointing His servant, the Catholic church, to guard the Bible. Do you assume a cop to thank you for combating at a pink mild? No, it is your duty. As for the bumped off books, might you're saying that the Catholic church is incorrect for including books to the unique cannon of the Jews? of course no longer. It then turns right into a concept wherein books are no longer inspired. Protestants are unfastened to examine the different books and verify for themselves. in the event that they are no longer inspired, then the protestants will come to the determination themselves with learn and prayer. i'd desire to turn the question on you to invite the way you be responsive to they are inspired. As for the Baptists no longer residing like Christians, who cares. situation approximately your concept and attempt to show the those that have not got self belief a similar way, the stunning thank you to have self belief. i will say a similar precise concern approximately many Catholics i be responsive to. even however, huge is the path that finally leads to destruction, narrow is the path that finally leads to existence. what's incorrect with preachy? you employ it like it particularly is a bad word. i'm uncertain what you advise in the back of it.

I have never heard of any protestant forbidding anything like this, and I've been around a long time. My question would be, why would any protestant want to?
The sins, lies, and perversions of catholicism are becoming quite well known, and I can't see anyone in their right mind wanting to convert to such a religion.
This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm

Our Pastor has used the Catechism in His sermons to show that Catholicism still believes they are justified partly by their own righteousness rather than only the righteousness of Christ alone.
