Well my problem at first was discovering that I was limiting myself and that I needed more protein, easily enough remedied by your local holistic store, which can provide you with the 'correct' protein powder in which to make a drink out of or smoothie...making it doubly wonderful....Next was iron..and I had to break down and purchase the 'right' vitamin complex for my body type and situation, then the B vitamins often hailing from foods simply aren't enough and adding Selenium enacts the B vitamins and E as well to activate more fully. There, I hope that this helps. Oh! And please be sure that you have the correct supplements for the Omegas that will be necessary for you, but it it's up to you and your health Food manager or Dietitian. Please as well consult your doctor about this....they balk at times...just look for one into Alternative Medicine. I do so hope that this helps you! ~ Bon Apetit!!!!!!!

Usually vegetarians lack micronutrients which are normally found in meat, especially creatine, L-carntine and minerals such as iron. Fish oils and calcium can also be a problem for strick vegetarians.

Some food supplements can help these deficiencies, 3g of creatine monohydrate powder in a glass of orange juice first thing in the morning, a couple of grammes of L-carnitine, other nutritional supplements can help boost vit and min intake throughout the day.

My advice however would be consume lots of dark coloured fruit and veg, lots and lots of variety tofu etc, drink plenty of milk and try to find foods like spinach and nuts that contain micronutrients that are found mainly in meat.

Me personally I have never lacked vitamins and have no need to take suppliments. Depending on you personal frame of mind and also the type of veggie or vegan that you are it is sometimes a good idea to take extra vitamins. Mostly though vegans lack B12 which they can get from meat, but that defeats the purpose. They instead get an injection from the doctor to boost it.

A popluar misconception is that us veggies lack protien. Certain vegatables, nuts and pluses can counter-act the portien problem as well as dairy products like eggs and cheese.
