I already served my time in the US Navy.
It's a great way to serve your country and see the world.

Let me ask you this, Why would I want to die?
>see interesting people and kill them?
That's just wrong.
To get college paid for, you have to risk your life, and possibly get killed.
Look at all the casualties in Iraq! Someone from my sports class went into Iraq, he isn't back yet. We don't know where he is, and it's sad.
So let me ask you again, why would you risk your life?
I can get valuable experience and skills from the world around me, not from the Military.
I can serve my country other ways, I don't want to be killed.
The only place I would be traveling is the sandy deserts of Iraq, that's real scenic eh? Sand all around.... Yuck!
I don't like airplanes very much thank you.
I can be all I can be in my own way.
So why not you ask? I don't want my life taken away!
You go to Iraq and fight, not me. Risk your life and then realize what a stupid decision you made.

Been there done that, veteran of the first Gulf War. I actually tried to get back into the Marines while the war build up was going on but was turned away. They told me I already did my time and to let the younger guys do it and I can serve my country better remaining home being a paramedic (which I am and was at the time).
So I did try to get back in, but sadly was turned away.

I sure would if I could. I'm too old now. But I would join in a nano second, to free people, or anything else we are needed for. Do you like your freedom of speech? Just wait if Democrats get in and they try to make nice with terrorists, you'll be speaking another language and praying to Allah on your knees 5 times a day. (forced to do so).

21 years, 8 months, 1 day....retire Oct 1, 2006. Served my time. Enjoyed it. Time to move on.
Hey, I hated airplanes too...especially the lousy A.F. pilots who flew them...that's why I jumped out of them every chance I got. I think they enjoyed seeing how many of us would fall down while we were waiting to jump out. That's why they flew like a roller coaster!

I serve my country by unconditionally supporting my husband who's been proving himself since he was able to sign those papers. The best soldiers have good families to support them, be it spouses or family back home.
