sit ups and ab crunches are suppose to firm the ab muscles but not necessarily trim down the fat. it takes a lot of effort to trim down the fat especially that on the abs. jogging really reduces a lot of body fat not just the abs but the entire body. if you master the proper motion for jogging with focus on the abs, you can burn more fat easier. taebo, aerobic exercises also work. the triceps on the other hand require weight exercises. push ups are recomended... do the push ups with both arms close to the body. or you could do it with both hands in the center and legs spread out about 12 inches apart. there are also tested barbel and dumbel execrcises that help develop the triceps.
with all of this, i aldo recomend a resuction of food intake particularly food that have high calorie content. But dieting does not have to be depriving.... you can loose waight and still eat your fav food.... it just takes a little discipline. and remember MODERATION IS ALWAYS THE KEY!!!!

If you can afford it, a personal trainer. If not, join a gym...if you can't afford that, then get some "at home" books for working out/toning specific muscle groups.
