Just moved into a new house in the country. People before us left their dog. By my calculations it's been about 12 weeks that she has been pregnant. We do not have a shelter in this area, and no vets within 50 miles. I can't afford to take her to a vet, much less drive an hour to do so. I've read that normal pregnancy for dogs is 9 weeks. Is there anything that I can do to induce her? Or should I just wait it out? Her temperature is still 102, however 2 days ago she started dripping fluid from the vaginal area, but still no pups. She has a safe place, and I just don't know what else I need to do to help her. Any suggestions?

There is not much you can do to help her without veterinary care. Just keep her fed, and sheltered. It doen't sound good, if she has really been pregnant that long. I doubt that she will make it without professional care.
You were correct, gestation for a dog is 9 weeks.

Doggie pregnancy is 9 weeks. Either you are wrong about the dates, or she is just having a false pregnancy. I would take her to the vet just to make sure she is okay. He may want to induce her labor.
The former poster is right. It could very well be a pyometra(uterine infection). If you do not take her to the vet, one way or the other, pregnancy or pyometra, she will die if not seen by a vet.

You really need to get her seen. Dogs are pregnant for 58-63 days.....she is past that. They do not go much past that. She may have a uterine infection..pyometria. It happens when the uterus fills with pus. It can rupture if not treated. Treatment is a spay. There is no other treatment. If you do not get her treated, she will probably die. Either take her for treatment or take her and get her euthanized so she does not die a horrid death.

Normal gestation is 63 days....it will happen naturally....just try to be around when she does have them in case there are any problems...if she is a bigger dog she should be fine. try watchng 'That's my Baby ' on animal planet...it can give you a few pointers. Nature pretty well takes care of itself...birth is a natural instinct for animals.
