thats how im doing it. they pay for all of my college plus about $1000 a month on those months when im in school. Ive also been to Panama, Kuwait, Iraq and have experience as a heavy equipment operator because of the miliary. Not to mention the benifits of being a veteran like retirement and a VA home loan.

...thats my sales pitch. if you want to know more then yahoo messenger me at sean_mchugh6 or just post your comments on joining the military to pay for college.

thats true 7th but you also have to considor the benifits of being sent away.

you see the world, you meet new people, you grow as a person, you get a much better and valuable world view, you learn what luxuries are and are able to recognize them and enjoy them. ya you do get sent away but in the long run that can be a good thing. i know when i look back on my life ill be able to say ive done things. ..and because of the momentum the militay has given me ill be able to keep on doing things probably for the rest of my life.

As an Air Force retiree with 21 years of service time, I applaud you for considering this approach. Nowhere on earth can you get a better deal. Obviously there are constraints especially in time of War, but not only will most Universities give credit for Military service, the military will reward you by providing assistance in the form of tuition and grants to allow you to complete your courses. In addition, University of Phoenix will assist you with online courses that can be carried with you regardless of location. In addition, military service provides the maturity to stay the course. I would consider the U.S Air Force as a first choice, and the Navy a close second.

I am glad you are glad to have done it although I worry about some of the soldiers over there now. Military is not for everyone.....i question everything including authority......and this made me a researcher. So I get paid to go to school, get paid to learn different languages....and I get paid to travel....granted not to Iraq panama or Kuwait but to Greece, Quebec, California, Wisconsin, St. Louis. There are perks to different careers and educational choices, what matters is you like what you are doing....and you can live off what you are doing. Also making a difference matters. Smiles.

I had a friend who did this. It took him forever to get through school. When you do this, they place your education at the bottom of the level of importance. You may not go to class for months and then go for a week and then away again for months. It is up to you, thats just one persons experience. After 3 years he didn't even get enough class time to get his associates. He could have went to somewhere else and been nearly done.

Just remember, there are strings attached. Don't join R.O.T.C. if you're a pacifist. Also, expect to be called into service when the time comes.

You always have to pay the piper if you want to dance.
