I disagree with the first poster that thinks 50% of poker players make a good living. That's a complete joke, only an idiot would believe that.
I think the real answer probably lies between the second and third poster. It's probably somewhere between 5% and 20%. But I'd be inclined to suggest it is closer to 5%. It probably depends on what you consider a good living. If you are talking nice big houses fancy cars and designer clothes and jewelery you are probably talking 1% or less.

The percentage of poker players that make a good living is just like every industry. There is a old saying about fishing, 20% of the fisherman catch 80% of the fish. This 80-20 ratio can be applied to almost everything in life - including sucessful poker players!

I have played simi pro poker, (Stud & Holdem) for the last five years. I started with $300. Today even though I dont work at a real job I strictly play cards, I make around $60,000 a year, and I am not a pro. Most of the folks that make this game there full time jobs are like me and and I would put a % of them that make a good living as you asked at about 30 to 35%.

There has to be atleast 50% of all poker players will make some good money if their skills are good.
