The first time we did it she didn't like it, but my husband made a make shift bed rail and I think that scared her. We found a bed rail at a yard sale, but now I am wonder if we should just move her on to her full bed. Instead of the toddler bed. My husband thinks it is ridiculous to move her to the full size bed and she should go to a toddler bed. Which do you think would work better? She has a convertible bed which goes from a crib to a toddler bed to a full size bed.

We bought our daughter a toddler bed when she was 18 months old. She slept in it but before she was 2 we bought her a pretty full sized bed. She loved that bed. Our second daughter would not sleep in her toddler bed.. So we bought a bunk bed with a full size bottom. Now our 5 year old and 3 year old sleep together on the bottom bed. If you are worried about her falling out of the full size bed, put pillows on both sides of her. You can also put pillows on the floor just in case... That helped with our daughters. Although, they didn't fall out of bed but a handfull of times. Our first daughter did the falling! Using a toddler bed is your choice...Toddler beds are like everything else....they are there to use but you don't have to use them! I just found them to be an added expense. If you want, try out the toddler bed for a little while. If she seems okay with it use it till you are comfortable enough to use the full size. If you are having problems, try the full size. You can pile the bottom area with all of her favorite stuffed animals for security!

a toddler bed is made for toddlers a full size bed can result in some pretty bad injuries in toddlers from them falling out of bed to it being made or stained with something that could harm her toddler beds are the right height materials and specs for a little girls safety and comfort also when buying things for a child at a yard sale look it up online before youy use it to make sure there isnt a safety recall on it

The funny thing today is the rush to get kids out of the crib. Did you know that they were originally called 6-year cribs? Well, anyways...so it is...today kids go from crib to bed earlier.

IF you're ready to have your daughter go from crib to bed, the usual pro of doing it to a full sized bed is to save money and not have to get a youth bed at all. Obviously that's not an issue for you. Advantages to the youth bed would be to conserve play space in the room, possibly even fitting another child's bed in the room. Also, youth beds often fit in the parent's room. Advantages of the full size (twin) is that the child is less likely to fall off if there are no rails.

My personal opinion is that children would do best and be safer in a crib until YOU want them in a bed, since the needs and protection of the child is less the reason for a crib anymore. My favorite child's bed after that is a very low bed...boxsprings and mattress...or just a mattress. It's completely child friendly, and you'd use it more like a lounger during the day. A harmless place to jump, play, and sleep. As the child gets to be a bit bigger and doesn't roll of the mattress as much, they're ready to go up onto a regular bed.

Since you do have the youth bed...one good reason I can see for using it is that it's cute...lol.

My HUGE advice for the day is to not not not allow your child to begin sleeping with you. Good luck!

A toddler bed would definitely be best because it has the guard rails on it (some styles anyway), and it is indeed closer to the floor which makes for a shorter fall, and put blankets on the floor just in case he/she falls out, it will be a litle softer. Putting him'her in a toddler bed first teaching them how to sleep in one spot, and not all over the place, because once they fall out of the bed once or twice they learn that they cant do flips in their sleep. Once they have learned how to sleep peacefully in one spot, and they out grow the toddler bed, then transition to a twin or full sized bed.

well i'd probably say a toddler bed they aren't as high and when they get to an age they can climb over the rail and hurt them sleves more. i have a toddler bed it's really low to the ground my son is still in the crib at the moment so i'm not sure how he'll be but i reckon a toddler bed is much safer.

Make a BIG deal out of her sleeping in the toddler bed. Have a sleepover in her room, you & your husband on the floor. Slowly & quietly move out of the room once she's asleep. If she wakes, take her right back to her bed. I got lucky with my son. When I removed the rail from his bed, he was excited. I bought a portable bed rail as he fell out once & that scared us both. He was fine with that & learned he could get off the bed around it real quick. He's now in my old daybed, sans rail as he's 9. Toddler beds are better for smaller children. My son didn't get to have one as he's tall for his age & when we tried them at the store, his feet were at the end already. That's why I went with a bedrail. She just might not be ready for the big girl bed either. Don't rush her. Good luck!

Toddler bed, I change from Crib to Toddler bed when she was about 10 months and it work great because she was able to crawl down and crawl up with the help of a pillow and when she start walking she will climb to her bed and if they are really crazy when it comes to sleep if they fall they won´t hurt their selves.

If its not going to cost you extra by having to buy two beds i would say go the toddler bed first, especially if she was scared. I would suggest getting really bright coloured sheets and making it really exciting for her. That's what i did with my son when he was twenty months and hes never looked back. He loves being a big boy!!!

When my daughter switched to a toddler bed, we played up the idea that it was a big girl bed that was "just her size"
She really seemed to like the idea of that. I remember her showing it off to grandma and saying over and over "I love it! It's just my size! She was barely two.
