I used to get this a lot when I used to regularly stay awake for 70+ hours in a stretch (I had problems and didn't sleep much). Basically the way that the eyes work involves two main pigments (often called visual yellow and visual purple) which are photosensative (like camera film) and they constantly renew themselves, if you have not slept enough sometimes the production of these visual pigments slows down a bit leading to shapes and specks in th peripheral vision.
Have a great day and get more sleep!

Do you mean like dark circles under your eyes??? I have them all the time. It can be from a number of different reasons. Mine is because the skin under my eyes is very, very thin and the capillaries under the eyes are close to the skin, so that makes my under eye circles very blueish/black. If you don't get them all the time, it can be do to over-tiredness, or sinus problems. Mine worsen when I am overtired or when my sinuses are acting up. I hate it! They make me look soooooo dead! Wish there was a way I could take care of them permanently, instead of using makeup or cheap creams...

its more then likely to be a floater these are liitle specks that get caught in the jelly in your eye and become visible to you. i have suffered for years with them. they vary in shape, from long lines to circles or little squiggles. the most important thing is they are totally harmless.
