Humans can live for several weeks without food, but only about three days without water. The average person will lose 2-3 liters of water per day. A lack of water causes dehydration, resulting in lethargy, headaches, dizziness, confusion, and eventually death. Mild dehydration reduces the ability to concentrate, which is dangerous in a survival situation where clear thinking is essential. It is therefore necessary that a safe supply of drinking water is located as soon as a shelter is built.

This greatly varies with body weight and for an advantage for the first time ever, FAT!. Fat people can go longer without food and water before death occurs. However, at a certain point, both fat or skinny would die regardless the amount of fat remaining due to ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is caused by breakdown of fat to provide energy, thereby releasing ketone bodies as bi products. Kenones are acidic in nature and causes death. Normally, not more that 2 weeks (14 days)

Most people won't make it past two to three days without water, they would dehydrate to the point where their bloodpressure drops to the point where the heart cannot continue functioning. Now, depending on how much body-fat you have you can go without food for months. Now if you are a thin person, with lets say 10% body fat or less, then you won't make it past a month without your major organs beginning to shut down. Once your body fat is gone your body will begin to eat itself. First to go will be the liver, bones, and circulatory system. Anemia will set in, and your muscles will wither as your body consumes itself. Now if you are like me and have a bulge where your belly is you could possibly last two months or more before you look like a skeleton.

Only a few days to a week without water - depending on heat - hotter = more water loss = shorter time period

Up to one to several months without food - depending on the size of the individual - if you are a healthy weight you can lose 50% of your bodyweight and still recover - but more than that and you will die
