I know you guys are trying, but metaphors are just metaphors, nothing else
There had to be a reason, and I believe that the being inside us (Freewill) is the thing that needs a host , now think about that

God needs us to learn. When we experience things God also experiences them. Imagine how many different interactions with different people you have had so far in this lifetime. Now think of all that you have learned from those interactions. God is learning through you. It is such an amazingly detailed system of learning and growing. No 2 people are the same. No 2 people have had the exact same experiences. We are pieces of god set upon the earth to experience different thing.

Adam's first instruction was to subdue the Earth. Which means that he was supposed to multiply not by having thousands of children but subdue it having GOD'S kingdom in mind. But these 2 kids, Adam & Eve, screwed up and ate the forbidden fruit. And YES it was Adam's fault not Eve's....just had to add that in there. So there was no way that now they were kicked out of Eden they could do this. So God proclaimed that Jesus will come and save us all from sin and death that Adam and Eve bought upon us. And he did come and save us. SO NOW it is up to us who are saved through Jesus Christ to subdue the Earth (not in an occultish way) as God originally inteneded in Genesis. Multiply the Kingdom of God on Earth. "They kingdom come, they will be done on Earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN" So that is a Christian's purpose here on Earth through the speading the news of Christ salvation and then getting to work.

We bring GOD pleasure by being faithful and obeying His will for us, which usually includes being a good example for others or using our GOD-given talents to make this World a better place.

evbillysunday is correct. He created us as free will beings that choose Him for eternal relationship and fellowship. Think of the reasons why we as human beings have and love our children.

God is just that, GOD! He doesn't NEED anything. It doesn't matter though, because god doesn't exist.
