I am looking for the best places online to research my family tree prior to 1750, especially in England. I have tried ancestry.com, but they don't go back much farther than the late 1700s. Free is, of course, preferable, but I am willing to pay if need be.

a lot of what you are looking for is unreliable on the internet. this is because so much information was converted to micro film and has yet to be available online. start by doing it yourself. it may take awhile but it could mean a vacation.
