Just set it as default, and do not use the resident client. Yahoo! has instructions on the website to assist in this..

Dear Alex,

You just need to open your Internet Explorer and go to:
Tools>>Internet Options>>General
write http://www.yahoo.com/ in the address field.

yahoo mail is too unreliable
