It depends on your area. I know in the San Ramon Valley east bay, nannies make between $3,500 to $4,000. Some live in full time nannies make up to $40,000 a year and live out nannies make $60,000 a year. Do a search on http:///www.craigslist.com to see the salary range for nannies in your area.

I was once employed as a nanny in the SFB Area and was paid $16 an hour. At the time, I had 3 years professional experience as a nanny and an Associate Degree in Child Development. Now, with 6 years experience and coming up on a Bachelors in Child Development, I can make anywhere from $20-25/hour. As with any job, a nanny's salary depends on how much job-related experience/education she has. But expect to pay between $14-18/hr for averagely educated and experienced nanny, and for a more professional-oriented nanny, from $18-$25 per hour.
