yes, i use 3D home designer Pro....about 50 bucks. i draw and add on to plans all the time.

There is only about a million of them, be sure to check for compatibility and remember a contractor more than likely will not except anything but an arch. design and approval. It does help designers in "drawing" your house though.Good Luck

AutoCAD 2006 is supposed to be really good, but its kinda comlex if you could handle it
