Lung cancer is the rapid growth of abnormal cells in the lung. It can start anywhere in the lungs and affect any part of the respiratory system. Smoking is the greatest risk factor for lung cancer. If you smoke, quitting smoking can, over time, gradually reduce your risk of developing lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in both men and women. Fewer than half of the people who develop lung cancer live 1 more year. And only 15% of people who develop lung cancer live for 5 more years. You can read more about lung cancer here

Well nicotine is poisonous. It is an addictive drug and should be illegal. My grandparents on one side died from it. My grandmother started smoking when she was 13 years old. The nicotine builds up in the lungs over time causing several health complications. Smokers lose a lot of weight because the nicotine built up in the lungs is heavy and the diaphragm muscle has to labor to keep the person breathing, therefore burning calories. The number cause of lung cancer is smoking or second hand smoke. It can also be caused by cancer that spread to the lungs from another part of the body. I hope you found this helpful.
