im trying to lose weight and i wanted to know what should the calorie intake be for a person who is working out and trying to lose weight. i am 200 lbs, male, 18 years old. i want to get down to about 170 to 160 hopefully.

You're still young enough to have a high metabolism (assuming you haven't had problems with eating disorders in the past). You can cut back to about 1500 Calories and lose the weight pretty quickly as long as you exercise. Don't go too low, or you'll slow your metabolism down.

2,000 calories - 2,500 calories is what people who are the proper weight should eat.

If you're trying to lose weight, try eating just 1,500 (really look at labels about portion sizes and calories). Don't eat: sweets, fried food, junk food, fast food, soda etc. Do eat: Cereal, fruits and vegetables, salads (no mayo or dressing), fish, very lean meat, etc.
