Why karate? If what your parents want is for you to have the ability to withstand a scumbag in the street, I highly advise Krav Maga instead. That is way, way better than stylized Karate. Krav Maga was created in Israel to arm the citizens and military with practical street fighting skills. Karate is nice in the dojo, but in the street you need something that works. Krav Maga works.

Seriously in my opion karate is GAY..do wrestling karate is just a bunch of HIgh-ha crapbut I take it your a girl soo Instead of karate how about Tae kwon Doe or even better Muay Thi .. Muay Thi is much better defense skill sthan Karate and Tae Kwon Doe combined.... You could also Take Jujistu but I would go with Muay Thi

I think you should. It is never to late to start anything plus you could meet up with some pretty cool people there. You also could love karate, and even if you don't you can just stop there is nothing wrong with trying new things.

Yes. Teen karate is a great way to meet new people and also learn self-defense and get your exercise.

In my opinion, Judo is better than Karate for a girl. It makes your body strong, it gives you a nice shape, and it's good as self-defence.

well i say no. most peopel get in and think they will be powerrangers ina week. if you want that your in the wrong martial art your looking for kung fu not karate. it also depends on your dojo.there are very few "good" dojos and when you join 90% of people drop out after a few belts. i say no.

i learnt karate for five years n i know nothin. i wasted my five years on it trying to be bruce lee. well, join only if you have a damn good teacher n if you are willing to make it your life. remember its not about fighting. its an art. n yea, i would recommend kung fu. but it shudnt matter as long as you have a good teacher. but if you dont got a good teacher then its worthless. learn from the chinese or the japanese .
