Okay, the answers you've been given so far explain why HIV is spreading so rampantly in Africa, and they make good points.
But none of them have explained the aftermath of high HIV prevalence. I assume that's what you wanted to know.
AIDS kills. In Africa, the proportion of HIV-infected people is so high right now that entire villages are being wiped out. Youths and adults are going to die off in droves. These are the people who make up the work force. Without them, an already-impoverished region will experience total economic CATASTROPHE. Babies are dying of AIDS, adding to an infant-mortality rate that was pretty high to begin with. But those who do survive will not have their parents around to raise them. They will not have adults to educate them. They will not learn the skills they need to be productive citizens. So while an entire generation of people is being decimated by AIDS, the generation that seeks to replace them will be ill-equipped for survival. Meanwhile, the elder generation is a little less affected by HIV, but they, too, will die (though more likely of age or other problems).
Essentially, without HIV prevention measures, Africa will be destroyed both socially (decimation of population) and economically (destruction of work force).

because the people of Africa are ignorant as to how to get AIDS and as to how to treat it. Also, the poverty is so devastating there that a woman would risk getting AIDS so that she could get food for her family (prostitution - men pay more when a condom isn't used).

A. Some of the Africans eat bush meat which is infected; mostly monkeys are the source.
B. Education about AIDS and it's impact.
C. Men having sex with young virgin girls with the belief it will cure them of their AIDS problem.
D. Most African women don't like condoms because they like the all natural feel.

i believe thats where it started not through people but through wildlife like chimpanzees ,africa being so hot is probably a breeding ground for good and bad cells. in think its devasting africa because many peopleare poverty strickenthat dont havebooks television radio or even anyoneto tell them.these poor people need more hospital and schools for awareness and safety

2. people dont understand the disease and that they can spread it- you have to remember most of these people have 0 education and beleive in spirits and stuff.
3. people dont get tested enough
4. poor availability of condoms- they dont have pharmacies or walmarts on the corner you can just go buy them at
