...when you get back it's not there anymore coz someone took it? Obviously, that person had dinner already and you just got home from working overtime for 5 hours.
An almost the same situation happened when an idiot roommate would turn off my alarm clock without even thinking who set it! I hated her!!! She's d*mn stupid!

find a new place, leave the roommate with no warning, just pack up and move on, screw them!

You know? There just some dump unthinking people in this world who do things that just make you want to ring their necks but, hey! Oh well, I swear I live in a house with two kids and one man and I know all of them are some dumb as s es but, I love them no matter how dumb I think the stuff they do is stupid it's what make this world goes around.
I do not plan on leaving my family ever (well not my husband, the kids will grow-up and leave on day) but, my point is that you have a choice you could stay there and continue putting up with your stupid roommate that you know so well or you could move get another one that may be even worst off then this one and start all over again.
The choice is yours, just remember one fact, this world would really be a very dull & boreing place if we all were the same in everyway.

I'd start looking for a new roommate if possible. I know that's easier said than done sometimes, but honestly... this obviously is a pervasive issue that seems to have no end. No point in fighting this out; you're not married to her/him?? So, suggest that you remain friends, but that the living situation just isn't working out as planned. Sorry you're having trouble!!!

sounds like you need new roommates, I had a similar situation when I went to college, it was a house with 5 people living in it , all going to college, one in particular would help himself to anyones food he chose. we could never break the ahole, we had to eventually lock everything up. some people were born to live by themselves. you will never convince them to honor your rights. one has to wander what those peoples homelife was like growing up. if you are going to school. it will be over someday, just don't marry anyone that doesn't respect your rights. How would I react? I would hope my mature side would win out, but you never know. set the alarm for 3 in the morning.

cook something else. but this time put habanero peppers in it or the hottest pepper you can find.
the consequences may be severe but it is not your fault that someone else ate your culinary experiment.
