It is unknown that hair color can harm the fetus. Doctors are recommending not to color hair while pregnant especially in the first trimester. Color chemical may absorb slightly into the skin or the fumes can be harmful if the room isn't ventilated and since your babys development depends on your body, your bloodstream etc. Drugstore dyes contain metallic salt dyes which have bits of lead. it is best to avoid. You can use a vegetable dye or get hilights.

Yes it is ok. Just last week I called by Obstetrician for that I am 6 months pregnant and she said that it is completely fine since I'm pass my first trimester(3 months). Once after that time there is no effect on you or the baby, so go ahead as long as the fumes don't bother you, then it's fine.

I am sure a lot of people will hate this answer but---I say you can. My DR. asked me to wait for 3 mos. My mom is a hairdresser of 30 years and has never killed a baby. I did wait until my first trimester was up-- just I didn't drink caffeine or take any meds. I also had the room well ventilated. I used bleach which didn't touch my scalp.

I wasn't told no by my doctor, but I did ask my hair dresser when I was pregnant, she said it just might not take as well. I didn't do it though, until after I had the baby. Probably be a good idea to wait unless you want weird colored hair.

I haven't heard of any reason other than hormones can cause your hair to behave differently and the color or perm might not take properly. I wanted to get a perm when I was pregnant and this is what the hairdresser told me.

There is nothing to show that it causes any problems or defects, but alot of women wait till after the first trimester. You can find some information about it at babycentre.com

I would say no. My hair dresser wouldn't do mine because the hormone level in your body during pregnancy can cause the color to come out different. I decided to do it myself and it turned an orange color.I wasn't told about the chemicals hurting the baby. You might ask your doctor.

Usually not because of the harsh chemicals.

This is why Jennifer Lopez is suspected to be pregnant. Her usually flawless hair has grey roots (as in she isn't dying it) leading to the suspicion.

It is greatly discouraged by most physicians because the chemicals can cause reactions that damage the fetus.
