No carb is okay for set periods of time. Like if you are trying to drop a few pounds real quick. But on a continuous basis there could be a health risk. Low carb is different-you can live on a reduced carb diet as long as you live. You need some carbs.

Carbohydrates are energy, which your body needs to survive. Eating tons of carbs causes your body to turn them into fat, but not eating enough carbs makes your body think it's starving. It then slows down your metabolism and decreases your energy level drastically. You will lose weight, but most of it will be water weight and muscle mass. You will NEVER be able to go off the diet, or you will gain all the weight right back. It's much better to try for a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, proteins, and unsaturated fats, plus exercize.

Because some carbs are good for you. Also, they are a good source of energy. Although there are some carbs that you should stay away from as much as you can, because they are just fat. I.E. try eating grilled chicken insted of breaded. That's a bad carb. You get the idea...

Carbohydrates are energy. Thing is, it's okay to have carbs if you're going to burn it off. You run out of energy if you don't have carbs. Soup to nuts, it's unhealthy and you run out of energy. Don't do it. Instead, just eat a balanced diet based on the *new* food pyramid and do plenty of exercise. It's much better.

Yes, carbs do cause weight gain, however, the human body is built to run off of the energy received from carbs... it's like teaching a car to run off of tomato soup instead of gas

This is my theory on dieting. Carbs, fat, sugar and cholesterol taste good. So I eat them. I do count carbs though. I'm up to about 4 billion now.

fruits and veggies contain carbs..so a low carb diet eliminates fruits and veggies from your diet. Also low carb diets include mostly meat..many are fatty and not heart healtlhy.

You need your carbs. Carbs give you energy and you need the energy to work off fat. When eating protein, you also need carbs to help balance your meal, or else you'll blow up!
