Apple Cider Recipe
From a 1960s rural New Zealand cookbook, this is the recipe for apple cider. I haven't tried it yet as I am still collecting enough swing stoppered glass bottles to recycle for this recipe! Cook time is actually the standing time
3 lbs apples
1 gallon boiling water
1 lb sugar
1 ounce raisins
Cut apples into pieces, skins and cores.
Add sugar and raisins.
Cover with boiling water.
Allow to stand for 4 days.
Strain and bottle.
Tie corks down!

Go down the pub and order a pint of cider.
Cut up an apple before and keep it in some cling film.
When you have drunk the top off the cider then unwrap the apple and pop it into the glass. When the bubbles have stopped then drink it down.
Repeat this with the apple for the next 8 pints you drink and then, just before you go for a kebab, eat the apple!
Easy and cost effective and the best part is there's no washing-up to do!!!!!!!!!

HOT APPLE CIDER
INGREDIENTS:
6 cups apple cider
1/4 cup real maple syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice berries
1 orange peel, cut into strips
1 lemon peel, cut into strips
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS:
Pour the apple cider and maple syrup into a large stainless steel saucepan.
Place the cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in the center of a washed square of cheesecloth; fold up the sides of the cheesecloth to enclose the bundle, then tie it up with a length of kitchen string. Drop the spice bundle into the cider mixture.
Place the saucepan over moderate heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cider is very hot but not boiling.
Remove the cider from the heat. Discard the spice bundle. Ladle the cider into big cups or mugs, adding a fresh cinnamon stick to each serving if desired

Put your cut apples into a bucket add water and sugar. Leave in a warm place for a month, covered with a cloth. Strain and drink. Have more than one toilet in the house if you do this at home
