Sounds like you are a loving and responsible dog owner. I always recommend obedience training as well. This is a great way to bond with your dog, keep his behavior in check and exercise.
Here is a site to find a qualified dog trainer in your area:

Consistant medical care. They must have vaccinations, you should have the dog altered or fixed when the time comes. Also, obedience class is a good idea, they teach you how to teach your dog. And its fun, you could meet new friends there. The dog whisperer is an interesting show to watch on the National geographic channel. It sounds like you are off to a good start! have fun and be patient and consistant. Also read some books from the library on dog training and raising a puppy.

Sounds like youre doing a really good job! One important thing you forgot to mention... make sure you are a strong leader with him! Take him for walks outside of his "home area." Make sure you socialize him well. And, never let him get away with something that you wouldn't want a big dog doing just because it looks "cute." I have a miniature pinscher, shes 2 years old and 8 lbs. But, we did let her get away with too much because she is so small and cute. Now, we have a dog who cant stand other dogs, runs around and barks whenever someone walks by the door outside, and other behaviors we would like to get rid of.
I would suggest watching the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic Channel. It gives you good insight into how a dog sees the world, and you!

It's VERY IMPORTANT that you socialize him. I've owned several dogs- all rescued from rescue shelters. Some were aggressive with other dogs because they were not socialized at the proper time. Start socializing him at six months. Let him play with other nonaggressive dogs THAT YOU KNOW. Do not start with just any old dog in the neighborhood that seems to be nice. Dogs can go from cute and cuddly to biting and attacking in less than a second.
Lastly, get Cesar Milan's Book "Cesar Way". You can find it on Amazon.com. He really does know what he's talking about. His philosophy provides sound logic and techniques. I've spent several hundred dollars with so called "dog trainers" with not much result. I've used his advice with my aggressive dog and she is well on her way to being socialized.
A socialized dog is a happy dog.

I think you feed your puppy 3 times a day until six months!!!
just put him in the crate when you are not home and a night anything longer is cruel I think... and always make sure he ALWAYS has fresh water.... and give him lots of love and chew toys... he will need it for his baby teeth!!! I LOVE PUPPIES

Well, you are doing a great job! But instead of science diet for food, I suggest Purina One, it is a bit expensive, but it will keep your dog VERY healthy!

just be sure that he knows you are "pack leader"....he must have plenty of excersize and if he does something wrong, correct him immediately...not by a loud "no!" but by blocking his concentration on whatever it is he is doing....make him concentrate on you instead...snap your fingers or tap him on the leg....when walking him, keep him beside you, not behind and definitely not in front....establish who is boss now while he is a puppy...dont worry that you will be mistreating him...he WANTS you to be leader....just be firm and keep doing what you are doing and i think all will be well...sounds like you are off to a good start!
