so.. im stuck at home with strep throat. joy.
My throat is on fire, it hurts to swallow, to yawn, to talk, to cough, to laugh. how do i relieve some of this pain??

im taking antibiotics already..
but does anything else work?

Oh that hurts! Try rinsing with salt water. You could also use throat spray but it only works for a short while. One the antibiotics start to work, (in a few days) the pain will leave.

Try eating something cold like a shake or a popsicle. Sometimes that helped when I had strep throat. Also, go to the doctor, they could perscribe some type of medication, maybe some type of pain reliever.

sleeping. it's all you can do!!! for me none of the gargle stuff or salt rinses work at all... and usually my body aches are way worse than the actual throat anyway... i got it once (and didn't have any insurance) and i let it run it's course. NOT a good idea. go get antibiotics if you haven't already!! seriously. anyway, when i get it i take a lot of drowsy medicines and just sleep it off (hopefully you have time off from work to do that). that and milkshakes. feel better!

a lot of the pain from strep throat is due to the swelling and inflammation to the throat....try some sort of anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen, motrin, aleve..they will probably give you more relief than tylenol..and make sure to finish your antibiotics to prevent it from coming back

Believe it or not, the New Zealand Manuka Flower has an ingredient that kills streph, and other antibiotic resistant bacteria. (search www.PubMed.com to confirm this if you like). The bees make a honey from its nectar.....it tastes strange, but sweet, and kills the bugs on contact....Good luck.

Get some Thera Flu or some throat drops and there is this other medicine, but I forget what it's called.

Gargle with aspirin. Put two tablets in luke warm water to gargle and then swallow after you gargle. It works very quickly.

did the Dr. give you any pain meds. if not tell someone to go to wal mart and get some sleep aid you need lots of sleep did the dr. give you any meds. zithromax antibiotic is good you need antibotic if not it will not go away
