Ok, so I chipped my tooth. I was skating, doing a backward crossover and uh, rammed into my friend. It's only a small chip, it's not super noticeable unless someone was looking inside my mouth. Is there gonna be something the dentist has to do or will she just let it go?

You should go to your dentist and let him or her examine the tooth. If it's a small chip, more than likely you would only need to fix it for esthetic purposes. However, there is a chance that the impact actually damaged the nerve of the tooth. Your dentist will be able to tell you if there was any significant damage done to the tooth. Good luck to you.

It depends. Can they fix the chip, if you want too yes. But there could be more damage then you think. There could be fractures in the tooth that are any noticeable from an xray. This could mean you may need a crown because if the tooth is fractured, i can get worse and eventually break more. My advice is just go and get it checked out. Just to play it save.

I'm a dentist.

If it's a small chip and it doesn't bother you, i.e. it's purely a cosmetic issue that you don't want treated, the doctor will simply leave it alone.

Last time I checked, we dentists don't pin patients down to treat things they don't want treated.

Of course, if you let the doctor treat it, you may end up being very satisfied with the results. I've treated many such fractured front teeth and have made many patients extremely happy as a result.
