Ode to Summer
Kevin Krzewski
Oh summer your excessive humidity sucks into my skin
releasing all previous thoughts of school away,
like a leach sucks out bad blood
Without any thought in the back of my mind about
Homework Sunday night, No worries about parents
Checking powerschool and completely shunning you
Until the grade is up to par.
Without you oh glorious summer, my brain would be
As fried as a McDonalds Chicken select
Without you, the world would be bitter cold
In both mind and matter. Without your soft sky
Humanity would not rejoice. The sweet taste of steak
Being consumed into the humidity. The trees green
For they have sprouted to witness your greatness.
The sound of various species of insects is loud
However, when you remember the death and stillness of winter
This once annoying sound now comforts you.
The feeling of the handles on your bike as you
Ride through the dense air to an unknown destination.
