It's funny, people claim to care so much about kids, but once today's batch of kids (born 1989-2007) grow up, people will move on to caring about the next generation (2007-2025 or whatever).
While I believe in the innocence of children, I also believe that to a mother a 25 year old child is just as precious as a baby.
What also doesn't make sense is the innocence of children often doesn't include teens and young adults, who in a way are children too (your brain doesn't stop developing until you're 25).
I love kids, but it doesn't make sense to me that we should care less about them once they grow up. To a mother or father, a child dead at 25 is just as sad as a child dead at 10.
