It is a shame that men feel embarrassed to talk about wet dreams but women talk about their "women issues" freely. It isn't "fair" but then again would you really want to swap situations? Here are all the main differences that might be part of the reason: 1. Girls mature a little bit sooner on average, and such an event as a period can be especially traumatic to a young girl, so all the more reason to have it widely known as "normal" and "something to be proud of" because of what it means. 2. A period results in loss of blood and painful cramps. A wet dream feels GOOD, and the liquid lost is less and not as noticeable as blood. You are obviously not bleeding when it happens. You might be confused, but to anyone who has masturbated, you know what it is. Also, because you can have sexy dreams, there is possibly the notion that you are being a "typical guy" thinking about sex when you have it, and so will get less sympathy. 3. Wet dreams happen at night, or at least while asleep, but periods can happen during the day. They are both involuntary, but at least your wet dream is confined to private moments while sleeping. 4. Both herald sexual maturity, or readiness, but you DON'T have to have a wet dream to be "ready" (you could masturbate long before you have a wet dream) - but girls HAVE to have their period (or be about to, I think). 5. The orgasm and ejaculation you have in a wet dream is a portion of what you would experience while having sex. A period for a girl is not. 6. Wet dreams are completely unpredictable, but a period will happen almost on schedule the same time every month, give or take a day or two (unless she is pregnant or some other reason she is "late") - and it WILL happen. Imagine getting a wet dream the first day of every month. The only benefit is at least you would prepare for it and protect your clothes. 7. You can prevent your wet dreams through masturbation (most of the time) but she will never prevent her period once it starts no matter how much sex or masturbation she does - unless she is pregnant or reaches menopause. So with all those differences, it is not surprising that there is a double standard. Still, I agree it would be nice to have more reassurance when it happens, or at least an atmosphere where you can talk about it freely, and more scientific knowledge about wet dreams so they aren't some great mystery.

What the commercials need to do is make them as realistic as possible and show it like it really is.The woman being in a foul mood because she has cramps and lying down in bed with a box of chocolates.

LOL prettylady272205, when I clicked on the question I said "WOW" when I saw the Avatar.
NEway. The sanitary products are made by men, the commercials are made by men. Why the heck is Always slogan "Have a happy period. Always"? Because they are MEN!
This is what Always says on their site: This is the time of the month that's all about you. So be your own best friend. Make it your mantra to indulge yourself and celebrate being girl
STFU Always!

Generally those models are too skinny to even get their period. So there's no reason for them to be unhappy, except that would make for bad marketing.
