I'm sure Dick Clark thinks he's being productive by being on the New Year's eve show, but what he's showing is that he doesn't know when to quit. He is ruining his excellent reputation, and he'll be remembered as the fool who didn't know when to call it quits.
Quite sad really.

Dick Clark is brave to keep going, knowing that there will be idiots mocking and making fun of him.. I only hope I can do so well at his age.

How cruel you are....and to an ICON of our culture. It's shallow folks like YOU that keep the world screwed up like it is.
Dick Clark is filthy rich, so he obviously doesn't need the $$$. It's like YOU telling me, as an ER RN with 37yrs experience and knowledge, to retire just because I am in my mid 50s and have slowed down a bit...FROM THE DESTROYED NECK, BACK AND SHOULDERS that I got from being in the ER for so long. What about all the knowledge I have to treat you and help you??? IF you were very sick, would you want me to be your nurse or one who just graduated and decided she wants to be an ER nurse and has ZERO experience....which more than half the ER nurses are????
Why should Dick retire if he wants to be on TV and part of the crowd? If he is not embarrassed about his speech KUDOS to him! I hope he doesn't step down til he falls over dead.....which may not be for many years! He gives hope to others who have had strokes! Strokes have no age limit....so be careful what you make fun of!

I don't want to sound crude but what else should he do? His whole life has been in music and TV shows. If he walks away from that, does that mean he should just sit around and wait to die?

I was about to get on here and ask the same question. I mean I respect the man for all he's done, but watching him now just saddens me.
