Really? I'm in a place where papaya is grown fresh, and I just tried it today and thought it was delicious.
Well, to each his/her own, I guess.

They served it at a wedding I attended as a soup... really good but when you get one you need to eat it almost immediately because they do go south fast... I added salt on the fresh fruit like watermelon and it was good too..

Is it? but papayas in Malaysia r very very delicious....
hope u willing to try it again if u go to m'sia.
For example, mangoes n bananas in Malaysia r nice,
but wen i tried these fruits in Russia (mostly imported from South Africa, Kenya), it taste a bit weird. n for your info (every1 who never eat papaya n wanna have a taste) the black colour round thing is it's seeds, haha, dun ever eat it together wif the flesh....Yummy! (pick orange coloured one, k?)

i have, it's pretty good!! maybe the one you ate wasn't at it's best point... if it's too green or too ripe it doesn't taste so good, it has to be just right. When it's just right it's very very delicious, really!!! no resemblance to ammonia, really!!!
