One of my old friends had this really big US 1 dollar coin. I want to get one like it but he moved away and havent really talked to him. So I was wondering if someone knew which $1 coin is bigger than the 50 cent coins? Like who is on the coin so I know what to search for?

You are probably talking about the Eisenhower silver dollar that was produced between 1971 and 1978.

The Morgan dollars minted from 1878-1921, the Peace dollars 1921-1935 and the Ike dollars 1971-1978 are all larger than a half dollar (30.6 mm), they are 38.1 mm in diameter. Also I have seen 3" copies that would make a good glass coaster. They can be found at a lot of side of the road gift shops they are made of silver colored metals.

I believe your friend had a silver eagle. Silver eagles were first minted in 1986. The silver eagle is a 1-oz bullion coin which holds the face value of one dollar. The obverse of the coin has the design of A. weinman's walking liberty half, the reverse was designed by John Mercanti. Silver Eagles can be found in both uncirculated and proof versions. Here is an example of an uncirculated silver eagle.
