When you see this, you have to immediately think symbols, how can I represent something like this, well, let's reword this:

A is B% of some number n.

Well, we know to get a percent, we need to convert the percent into a decimal, we'll just call that B without the %, and then we multiply this by the number n and set it equal to A:

A = Bn

So, we can say that:

66 = A
56% = B%
.56 = B
x = n

Now we have:

66 = .56(x)

Where x is the answer:

66/.56 = x

117.86 = x

There you go.

Another way to solve ...

Let X = the number

0.56X = 66

Therefore, X = 66/0.56

Hence, X = 117.86 (answer rounded off to 2 decimal places)
