I have ovarian cysts and I'm darn right sick of them. I felt some burst 5x this week, so far, and don't tell me I would be in the hospital because my doc said they burst all the time, you may/may not have pain, no need for doctor/hospital. I told my mom I was sick of it and she goes "Well maybe we can get you back in, or find another doctor." I already went numerous times and their words were "Sorry kid, lots of people get them, and theres nothing we can do, since you get them so often and nothing unusual happens." But I think thats bull. I also went to a GYN/OB and she also said that because nothing unusual is happening that theres nothing they can do. But they are coming more now. And I'm f'in sick of them. Sometimes its so bad, I wish they would just take my ovaries out, who cares if I can't have kids later. btw I'm only 15. So should I ask my mom to make an appointment with my regular doctor, or the GYN??

Personally I would request a GYN as they specialize in this. If there is nothing they can do, perhaps thery have a treatment that can prevent them from showing up at all. Go to a university hospital near your home. They have some of the best Doctors there. I have lived in Iowa and the u of Iowa and MN and Personaly have had U of Iowas Hospital and Clinics had prenatal work done there it has a great OB clinic As does Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN or u of M Hospitals. Check you area MOst the info should be On line. You may have to get the info yourself. Due to your age, You may need your mothers (or parents) ok for them to do anything. so be sure to keep her informed of your Pain The diorder may be worse than they let you know..

The type of ovarian cysts that go away after a short period of time are not large. If the cyst is large and your doctor wants to wait , I would get a second opinion. Go to a different group of doctors that are not affilated with each other. I had one removed last year that was 3 inches x 5 inches...very painful. The surgery was a breeze though so don't worry.

I would recommend the OB/GYN. I have had problems with cysts along with other female problems and I found out that in situations like this the regular doctors would recommend that the patient go to an OB/GYN.

I had one rupture last year but it also ruptured a blood vessel. This caused me to bleed internally and turned life threatening. My gyn started me on birth control pills and it helps keep my hormones normal. This will take away all cysts. Every once in awhile I will feel a slight one but they take away all pain. Talk to your mom and explain that you would like to look into the pill, not because of sexual reasons, but because of this reason. Most bcp's uses include this. good luck and I understand your pain :(

Have you been tested for Polycsystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)? If not, try to find a gynecologist that knows about PCOS and can test you for it. Sadly a lot of doctors don't know about this and just dismiss ovarian cysts and nothing important. If it turns out this is what it is, it can be treated to maximize your life and maintain your fertility for later. If you are interested in this, the best thing to do would be call around first and ask them specifically if they know about PCOS. Check out the links below for more information and a message board and see if that sounds like you. (You might not have it at all but since you mentioned numerous cysts, I thought I'd mention it. I know I wish I knew about it and was diagnosed sooner and am much happier on the appropriate medication.) If that's not it, I would still go to a gynecologist.

I've had them since I was 15, I'm 28 now. They were awful, and I can understand where you're coming from. You can have them removed, but, I'll tell you, I had it done, it hurts like hell, and they came back anyway. There's no guarantee that if you have them removed, they won't come back! I don't recommend having your ovaries removed, and most gyn. won't perform the procedure on you because you're so young. My doctor put me on birth control to help with the symptoms, maybe you should try a different gynecologist.

Go to a GYN. I had one myself and it was very painful. My GYN put me on the pill to shrink it. It worked for me. Ask your doctor if this could work for you as well. ..Good Luck. ( Birth Control Pill)

Yes, you should see another GYN who understands your problems and can help you. If there is nothing they can do, then you should at least take something for the pain.
