My children were such angels when they were young, so polite and basically well behaved....except when they weren't.
Ha Seriously they were. We got compliments so often when we all went out to eat on their manners and behavior. I was just a kid when I had my first three so we grew up together yet they always knew that I was Mommy. My youngest never had to even have me raise my voice at him. His dad left when he was nine and the others were in college. The grandchildren are as sweet as can be and yes, the manners, respect and kindness has been passed on from their parents. Now I do have one little great-grandchild that is spoiled, rude and throws fits even at age 7. Whata ya gonna do?
From what I know about you my friend, I know your son will be the best, because you are a super Dad.

I have 5 children, all grown, all taking care of their business and I am very proud that they turned out well in spite of their mother's and my poor parenting.
Some of my grand children are amazingly well-behave, almost scary. Others are impish kids. None are malicious.
So define good for me and I might be able to give a more definitive answer.

After not seeing my one grandson (now 15), foe four years, he is an absolute PLEASURE. He got straight A's in Maths and science and a couple of other subjects. He s no 13 in the State of Victoria in the Marathon, and no 32 in cycling. He is sooo good looking too. But wants to be a pilot in the Air force, and says he will only get interested in girls when he is finished school! I think he is better behaved sometimes than my thee girls at 15!! My girls were petty well behaved. I don't see too much of a difference, Thank God. He is coming back to Brisbane with me to spend 10 days up there. My, my, it has been a wonderful family renunion.!.

Pretty normal I would have thought...had a sensible ordinary upbringing, had me sweating at times, but went on to obtain University degrees.. Now have good jobs, or own business and last night they hit the town and had a wild night. In the next few days they'll again be working ...and popping in to see us, If they had been perfect goody two shoes I would have worried.
Of my 7 grandchildren two ar over 18 and they also hit the town. . I noticed over many years, that kids who didn't have little doses of the rougher side of life and had a "perfect" upbringing...usually rebel later and go over the top in a world they have been taught little about. To generalise about my kids and grand kids...they'll do.

Yes, I'm very fortunate to have created two children who turned out ( by luck or good management !) to be good. They are 28 and 31 , have good jobs and good relationships. My son has given me a 2 year old grand-daughter...two young to tell what she'll be like yet.
I don't see any difference between those two generations yet, but I do see a great chasm between mine and theirs. My relationship with my parents was wary, always treading on eggshells in case I annoyed my mother. Always "editing" what I told them in case they thought badly of what I was doing." Never saying the "L" word, ever.
I rebelled when I brought my kids up - we say the "love " word frequently and we mean it, we speak honestly to each other and don't lie to protect each others feelings. Its a nice, easy-going relationship...the kind I dearly wish I could have had with my parents, but never did.
Best wishes to you, and have a wonderful 2008, Wick !

Yes Wick, my children are good - but they are very selfish! As for my grandchildren - they are extremely spoiled and have far too much "stuff" and they could use a "corrective interview" on the subject of manners. But at least they do not use drugs, do not drink, and otherwise I find them to be normal and almost perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CJ

I am a child of my parents.. and I try to be pretty good. And when I have children I will probably raise them very closely along the same lines as my parents raised me.
Why.?

My kids are both good kids. My daughter really needs to make some changes in her life, but she's got a big heart. No grand kids.
