I have this poetry project and it says, "You must have at least 2 illustrations within your handbook (original composition)."

does that also imply that i can draw 2 and just print out pictures of the rest?

if you trace it then it would be called a fanart... but not an original illustration.. you may copy an image..drawing or cartoon of the same character.(e.g. mickey mouse). but you cannot copy the exact picture from another artist.. you must alter it (e.g. change the position..colour.. background) to make it original..

I read the implication as all illustrations must be original compositions and that you need not have more than two illustrations. Tracing cannot fall into the category of original composition. Concentrate on doing two illustrations and if you have the time/inclination do more but keep them original.

You seem like a words person, so let's make an analogy out of this one so you understand how asinine the question is: Tracing someone else's art and calling it an original composition is the same thing as copying down a book, verbatim, and claiming to have written it. Highly unethical. Just because I've written down everything in Romeo and Juliet does not mean I created it. Get it?

Hi, i think it would be great to do the full portrait yourself! After a few practice sessions , i think your creativty will make your free hand drawings great. How can you be different if you trace? I'm artistic and tuning into your imagination with calming music in the background really helps. My second job was teaching art so i think you should have a go without tracing paper! I bet your a budding artist!

Tracing anything isn't 'original'. You need to draw your own.

No, and unless you credit it, it's plagarism. If you can't draw at all, you could trace single objects on the same page to make it original (magazine cut-outs work great).
