no i have a pair of purple and black BCBG pumps they look fine now if you had like halloween witch stockings on like on the wizard of oz well then that's a completely different story

No, purple and black look fine together. Black is a neutral and pretty much goes with any color (I'd say navy is the only thing I really wouldn't pair with black just because it makes people think you meant to wear one and not the other).
