In other words, what exactly is the US government's duty to the American people?

To attack and destroy any country, that might become a threat to Americans some times in the future !?

In the same way that police are not obligated to protect you, newscasters are not obligated to tell the truth, and doctors are not obligated to correctly prescribe drugs (see also: off label uses), the government's mandate is simple: control.

To do those things that we as individuals cannot do separately. We cannot be expected to deliver our own mail. We cannot be expected to defend our nation as individuals. We cannot be expected to stop the illegal or unconstitutional activities of businesses or individuals. There things among others are the mandates of the federal government
