I just watched the performances of Blake Lewis and Jordan Sparks on Fox's New Year's Eve special. I couldn't even hear the guitar, bass or drums during either of their performances. All I could make out was the keyboard and some electronic beats, and the drummer wasn't even playing the same beat as the drum machine! What is the purpose of even having a band if you are just going to turn them down so they can't even be heard? Is it just to create the illusion that there is actually some legitimate musicianship in the performance?

I missed that one but I did see FOB singing "Beat It" and wish I didn't hear their instruments or the singing.

It's an illusion of musicianship that is so common in pop music today. The American Idol winner is lip syncing, what a shame. How can Ms. Sparks call herself a musician?

You should have watched Carrie Underwood on the Dick Clark show. She showed everyone how a live performance should be done.

jordin was definitely singing. But they were playing the song in the background. so when she stopped it was still her track playing in the background and she would start singing different word. if you saw there were no background singers. it was definitely a recorded track with her singing over/with it.

this makes me so mad. there are so many musicians in this world working their asses off, yet these are the people with top 10 hits.

if you're interested there is a song called "a song is not a business plan" by the rocket summer. it basically bashes people just like jordan sparks and blake lewin and what they just "pulled off". it sums up MY feelings about these ridiculous situations pretty well!
