to stop pushing their children to be something they don't want to be and stop making them feel they're disappointments when they do not live up to their parents' expectations.

I think all parents should love and support their children and raise them to be self thinking independent caring empathetic kind people with a good sense of responsibility, morality, strong ethics and great humour. I abhor when I see parents belittle their children and make them feel like failures and disappointments. It is a literal shame and I always feel like I wish I could just take that kid and reassure them and tell them they are good.

I agree!!! omg, i'm never good enough for my parents, i'm not in debate, piano, choir, band, orchestra, and all honors classes at the same time.
WHY AREN'T YOU IN HONORS? says my dad, lol. I couldn't care less what he thinks anymore.
I understand they want me to succeed, but i'm really good at what i do.. And they couldn't care less! Anything I'm good at, or care about is worthless. *gah*

There is obviously waaay much more here than what you've said.......how about you realizing that your parents are older, have more life experience and know what they're talking about?
Now if you're parents are FORCING you to dress inappropriately and walk the streets, thats one thing....but if they're pushing you to stay in school, get an education, play sports, play the piano or join the chess club...sorry hun, you'll get no sympathy here.....
Your parents expectations for YOUR life....only mean that they want YOU to have (achieve) the best life possible.....
