Hey, I was just wondering. Do you fill in your application form for which university you want to go to, BEFORE or AFTER you do your HSC? If it's before, do you do it before you graduate from high school?

Many thanks. :D

I'm going into Year 11 this year (2008), so I'm still in high school.

Dear Limegreenbeetle7

I figure you are in Oz.

Unless you are a mature age student, to gain admission to MOST, but not all, universities in Oz, you have to make formal application to the selection authority - in Victoria, it is VTAC, in the rest of Oz, dunno the names; but the process is the same.

Unless the entry is mature age, or folio based, you cannot get in through normal channels except by application to the central agency for the state in advance of the end of the year, for the following year.

The VCE (the Victorian HSC equivalent) results for 2007 are out, and the Change of Preference forms for VTAC are probably due back already, and the First Round Offers are not too far away.

Check http://www.vtac.edu.au for exact info.

It varies only a little between the states in Oz.

Full Fee paying opportunties are a different story - contact the universities directly - I don't know, as this is a relatively new concept, and I am too far away from the action to be sure.

In South Australia applications have to be in by around October of the year you are doing your HSC or SACE as it is here. So your HSC is in progress, but not yet complete. You submit your application based on your hopes and expectations.

Good luck, be safe, be sage

if you're intending to go into those competitive and have early deadlines courses, you have to apply during your hsc with your 1st or 2nd or trial examination marks.... if others you can apply after u recieved your actual HSC UAI/ results :)

University places are allocated on HSC mark and are known at the time of publication of results.

If you have made no applications go to the Unis of your choice and fill in their forms.

Contacting the Uni Student counsellor is also very helpful in choosing courses.

Good luck !

Yes, typically.

There are people that would like "rest" where they discover more about themselves- aka a one year vacation but personally, that is not recommended.

Many many universities have a "early decision" or "early action" deadline- they tend to be deadlines in the first of december- you get a better chance of getting into the university if you apply by the "early decision" or "early action" deadline and are eligible for scholarships that each university might provide. Why? Because the number of people that apply by the "early decision" or "early action" and stuff like that make their statistics look better. How? Not sure- maybe the number of students that get rejected kind of statistics?

before, always....turning in an application early hints at your wanting to attend the college....they also setup deadlines to turn in the applications
