I am 24 weeks pregnant and have spells of feeling light headed. Today I really thought I was going to pass out at the mall. I don't recall EVER feeling like this w/ my first pregnancy. At first it only ever happened right after lunch or around 3-4p, so I assumed it was related to need for food/water, but it seems to happen at various times now. Anyone else had this feeling? Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Yes, I will be calling my midwife on 1/2. I should have talked to her about it when I was there last time, but was just thinking about what "kind" of baby we were going to get (had an ultrasound that day).

Thanks (and please be nice!),
Mandy

PS ~ HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If your blood pressure is ok, then it could be that you are really hungry or the extra blood is getting to you. Do you feel really hot? Does the cold winter air make you feel better when you get these feelings of lightheadedness? If so, then nothing to worry about, just try not to get too hot. Stay hydrated and make sure you're eating. Also make sure you are getting plenty of calcium and iron, a lack of either of those can do that. Definitely tell the midwife.

P.S.
Here's a strange little fact... Calcium blocks the absorption of iron, so make sure that you have the two at least an hour apart from each other.

i pass out i used to do it all the time in high school. at first they thought it was my sugar. they don't really know what it is but one doctor said it was vagal syncope. which is when you stand for a while your veins flush all your blood to your feet and away from your head. tho i have been sitting a few times and done it. ask your midwife. it could be nothing. or it could just be your sugars or something. good luck

Happy new year to you too!!

I would be getting your blood pressure checked to see if that is the cause. Or it could be because you have been doing to much and have been on your feet too long at a time.
Also it could be related to your blood sugar levels (possible gestational diabetes?) which will be getting checked around 28 weeks anyway.

When you feel faint, lay down flat with your legs slightly elevated to get and definately tell the midwife

best of luck

I had a horrible pregnancy with my son and I got headaches fainting spells and all that. I bought a book caled birth its a big purple one, it was my bible for 9 months. It says fainting spells are completly normal your body produces an extra 2 letres of blood and thats the reasons for the dizzyness and headaches. I think you should see your midwife just to make ure though. DOnt forget it has been quite the past couple of days maybe drink heaps of water also might need your blood pressure checked? Good luck I hope everything is ok x
