Fire works are going off behind me and one street over. I went out and rang in the New Year with the 'quarterdeck' bell I was given when I transferred off the USS L.Y. Spear AS-36 back in 1982.

My neighborhood is nice a quiet and very peaceful. Would not want guns going off, or my horse or other animals frightened in the name of tradition. Make no sense to me that so called "adults" should act this way. So glad I live in a part of the world that is civilized! Also fireworks are not allowed in the city - only out in the county! I like peace and quiet at any time of year. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO! CJ

Sheer & utter chaos in my neck of California. It appears my town is pick of the century for the training crew from another large metropolitan area. We have every resource out on the streets. The street lights have been disabled to only flash red lights. The alleyways have been blocked off. The newest Nightclub is full to capacity. Cars parked in places where they just should not be. I suppose it's organized chaos because the cops are finally walking a beat in gangs. This small town is a thing of the past. I came back just in time to see the empty lots fill up with ugly buildings & grafitti covering every business sign in every area of town. Yippee...the gangs all here. Or should I say ALL the gangs are here! Come on vacation & leave on probation is our new town motto! It's only 10:27pm & I hear gunshots & screaming. It's gonna be a long one...whooppee! Happy New Year.

Lots of fireworks; which have finally died down. People standing in their driveways kissing.
I'll start our blackeyed peas, greens, pork roast with saurkraut, and mashed potatoes late tomorrow morning.
Glad to see that ya'all are getting some rain, Happy New Year!

Fireworks all around the neighborhood and the surrounding ones. And like Granny, I'm in GA and yes, some fool behind us is out there shooting off his gun!
Little Lulu~our terrier~ is still hiding under her blanket on the couch, wishing it would all just stop already!

I live in a RV park in the southwest desert. It's funny, it's been quite all evening. It's 10:20 p.m. here. I am only about five miles, as the crow flies, from ten casinos. All I have heard is the wind. It's blowing pretty good tonight. I've been on the computer and watching the History channel all night so I haven't seen the celebrations on TV either. My kind of New Years eve!!!
