Hi I was wondering if any of y'all had seen that movie? I ask cuz I saw the movie when I was a kid & had always wondered when they land on LB426 & see the alien space ship sending out the SOS that winds up being a warning, if that was indeed a different kind of alien that was sitting in the decaying ship that was extremely large & was dead? Thanks

Actually, I saw the original film that alien was "borrowed" from. It's from the 50s and talks about a monster that came abord the ship and slowly killed the crew.

That one was ultra cheesy.

I think it was a different kind of alien that was also sucked into this trap

I went to see "Alien" several times actually. Even my mom was intrigued! When I came home from work the day after we went to see it, she said, "If I pay your way in, can we see 'Alien' again?" I was astonished! She is NOT a film fan and doesn't usually like science fiction movies. She also liked "Close Encounters..." a lot, but I didn't expect her to like this one. We kept trying to get a better look at the creature.

Only one alien skeleton is shown in the film~that of a gigantic being that obviously is a different species from the Alien. By the way: This whole setup is "borrowed" from "Planet of the Vampires", which, in turn, borrows from the other film mentioned: "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" (1958). So, "Alien" just continued recycling material, only it did it in a way that differs from the other two.

"Planet of the Vampires" on Wikipedia:

You'll note that the gigantic alien remains AND the distress signal are elements of the story that crop up in "Alien".

"It! The Terror from Beyond Space":

Just as in any genre, writers borrow, imitate or pay homage to works that have gone before.

I did see the original in 1979.
When they landed and saw the abandoned ship, the large aliens that were dead and had their chest busted were part of the orginal crew and were a different species of creatures.
