Mine is actually kind of like this now. My son is 10 weeks old and I used to have an innie belly button. Well, of course when I was pregnant it turned into an outie. Now that my belly has gone back down my belly button is brown, however it's not scabbed. I've been trying to figure out why it's like this, but I guess it's from rubbing on my pants and clothing when it was turned inside out. I guess this sounds kinda gross, but it did happen to me, too. I don't think I'd compare this to the baby's umbilical cord, though. It's a totally different thing.

:)

OOOHHH... I know what you're talking about. The dark brown area around your belly button and the line that goes up and down from it. Yeah, I remember what happens. The darker skin will start rubbing off and it's kind of scabby because it's dry. Funny... this didn't happen the 2nd time for me. Probably because my sons are 15 months apart.

Also, the darkness around your nipples will eventually fade but don't worry, they don't "scab up". lol

The BABIES belly button does that from where they cut the umbilical cord and clamp it. (they have to leave a little stub there because they obviously can't cut it right back to their skin.) It usually takes 10-14 days for the scab to fall off and then the perfect little belly button is underneath. You just need to use a little cotton bud/tip to clean around it and then it will just come off by itself.

bes to luck

After I had my son I had to clean mine very well with an aclohol swab. It did get kinda dirty when my belly shrunk. It didn't scab though. I thought it was but it was just dead skin

Well I've had one and am about to have another - and no my bellybutton did nothing of the kind with the first baby. The BABY'S umbilical cord did shrivel up and turn brown and fall off - but mine just slowly shrunk back to normal size with the rest of my belly.
