Which do you use? I use Windows XP, and I want to get Vista. If you use a Xandros or Linux or something say that...

Four Macs at home (two desktops, two laptops) all networked.

Five Macs at work (one the server), also all networked. This includes our production machines, bookkeeping, accounts, and everything it takes to run a business. Oh the software is out there. PC types just can't be bothered to learn about it. It hurts the anti-Mac myths they've nurtured for so long.

The only way to fly.

Every machine I have used for the last 5 or 6 years has been dual boot - Windows 98/Linux, 2000/Linux, XP/Linux, Vista/Linux.

Windows is great; not only is it user friendly, it's somewhat much more affordable then a Mac. If I were you, I'd go for Windows Vista and don't let other people discourage you about Vista's compatibility issues because Service Pack 1 will be released soon meaning better performance and all-around support for various software.

macs are probably the best and most stable
vista is really glitchy, even if it is improving through updates
linux is not user friendly what so ever

I use Ubuntu for most things (A Debian based GNU/Linux OS). And am forced to turn to Microsoft for gaming, becuase software developers are so tight they would never make anything for opensource OSs (and it's not like we wouldn't pay!).

If you want to be able to buy software from your local store and install with ease, really you'd be forced to go for a PC (though leave vista I hear bad news about that every day). Mac OS X is an extremely good media production tool, meaning image/video editing if that is what you want to do, but very little software is available other than for those things.

So unless you want to use an OS for a reason (A linux distro for the supernerd stuff; Mac OS X for producing media) Get a PC, they're not too bad as some users like to think and are the best for gamers, because these days practically all computer games are only compatible with PC - windows systems.

I use both Windows ME and Windows XP as a dual boot. I can choose which OS to load.
