Oh, you're still here?

Question

Not complaining, just trying to ask some 'fun' questions.

When you're close to your due date, how many of you get the question "Oh, you're still here?" or "You didn't have your baby yet?" when you go to work, see relatives, etc?

How do you respond to the question?

Toward the last two weeks of my last pregnancy I was annoyed with the questions, so I just made a game of how many comments I got each day at work. Instead of thinking 'geez, another question', I thought 'ooh, another point for today'. The lowest was 5 in one day, and the highest was 14!

Sometimes I would smile and very nicely answer "Nope, I'm not here".

my personal favorite was, "wow, you're about to pop!"
no kidding. i was giant. i usually responded with a forced smile and reluctant "yep." honestly, how did they want me to react?

with my daughter, my second pregnancy, i was 11 days overdue, and people would always ask me, 'when are you going to have the baby?' it was SOOOOOOOO irritating, especially cos i was finding it difficult with her, it was hot, i was big and uncomfortable. i just smiled, but i was grinding my teeth! people just have no idea how it affects you but its pretty irritating

I would look at the questioner with a puzzled look and say
"what? I'm not pregnant"
and watch them squirm

I actually went 2 weeks over with my son, so you can imagine how often I got the question. I wasn't as amused as you, though :)

I'm not at that point yet, but I do see people getting anxious already. I will be bugged with the comments in a few more weeks.
