Whenever she starts her period and she feels comfortable.

You must decide if you are ready to use tampons. There is no age requirement, but you do have to be responsible and follow the guidelines for use.

The best type of tampons to start with are probably Tampax Satin tampons, regular absorbency. They have a shiny, slim, biodegradable applicator. The smallest tampon on the market is Tampax Lites, which are light absorbency. They don't absorb as much menstrual blood as a regular absorbency, but they are small.

If you follow the directions and are relaxed, it is not difficult to insert a tampon. You should not feel them once they are inserted, and they should not hurt to insert.

I'd say as soon as you start getting your period. If your ready to try it, go for it! It shouldn't hurt and it works better than using a pad. Just don't keep it in for more then 8 hours or you might get an infection. I hope I helped out!

Well obviously when she gets her period. But you also have to be comfortable with your body and touching yourself that way. As long as you are ok with that and comfortable using tampons you are ok. And if you are thinking about experimenting with tampons before you have gotten your period that is ok also. I called the hotline one time to make sure it was safe when I was younger. Only reason I know that. But be sure not to leave them in for longer than 6 hours. You could get Toxic Shock. And you do NOT want that.
